Great backcountry sights. Tons of hikeing
One of the free options compared to paying $20 to drive to the top. Usually has decent parking and never had any break-ins. However, always use caution when parking in a secluded area and don't leave valuables visible.
My girlfriend and I arrived here early (8:15) and put our camping reservation in on the board. When we arrived a few hours later with our gear we were told it was over booked. Someone had the reservation for over a day and the board hasn't been updated. We weren't given many options besides walking 2 to 4 miles to the camps sites and asking if others wanted to share... Luckily we found a much better location to hike and camp in the Pisgah Park with park rangers who were more knowledgeable and friendlier.
I could write a book on this trail. Fantastic trail! Hard work to the top, recpmmend for people who have some hiking experience. There is a natural spring near the top. Average hike around 3-4 hours round trip (including the peak). Definitely recommend.
Very challenging trail. Some easy sections and others that you are climbing the rocks.. Will be back to do a lot more hiking in this area.
